MATTHEW COLON
after attending the menswear design program at Fashion Institute of technology in nyc, I began working for a bespoke tailor in Williamsburg, brooklyn as their Shirtmaker. There I was trained in fine tailoring, textiles, hand sewing techniques, and pattern-making. from there i began working at Tory Burch as a sample maker, introducing me to more womans wear design and construction. I began building a small sewing factory for myself to create something OF MY OWN. With this passion for bespoke tailoring and traditional american design, I present to you aura.

THROUGHOUT THE COLLECTION YOU WILL FIND WESTERN INSPIRED SHAPES AND CURVES; ALL OF THESE ELEMENTS WERE FREEHAND DRAWN AND GIVE A MODERN TAKE ON THE CLASSICS. FOCUSING ON THE CRAFTSMANSHIP, EACH GARMENT IS CUT BY HAND ONE AT A TIME AND ARE MADE ON VINTAGE UNION SPECIAL, REECE, SINGER, BROTHER, JUKI, AND MERROW SEWING MACHINES.

What is the lead time for a garment on your site?
Once your order is placed, garment construction will begin right away and will take 2 to 6 weeks to complete; depending on items COMPLEXITY and order volume at the time.
ARE the items on your site gender specific?
With the exception of jeans which are made using mens sizing, all tops such as shirts and jackets are cut with a more casual boxy fit which can cater to woman and men.
Where and how are your garments constructed?
These garments are made in a small shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. All garments are designed, patterned, constructed, and finished one at a time by Matthew Colon. Made on vintage Singer, Union special, and merrow sewing machines.
Do you Accept returns or exchanges?
all garments on this site are final sale so returns will not be accepted. we do accept exchange requests for things such as sizing issues. All mtm and custom garments are final sale and exchanges are not accepted.
